Below are examples of social media I have used for The Pit: Sports and Entertainment, The Herald-Palladium and more.
These photos were taken May 17-19, 2013 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio for the seventh annual Rock on the Range music festival. The photos were taken for The Oakland Post.
In December 2012, recent Grammy award winners Halestorm brought the Jagermeister Tour to the Royal Oak Music Theatre in the Metro Detroit area. David McDonald (of WXOU) and I had the chance to sit down with Lzzy and Josh two days after the band was nominated for a Grammy. Photos were also taken of the show.
The Detroit Pistons held an open practice at the Athletics Center O’rena at Oakland University on October 6. The Pistons brought the complete show to the home court of the Golden Grizzlies, including the dance team, flight crew and drum line.Playing four six-minute periods, the Pistons split into two teams for what was a scrimmage against each other. The following are photos I took throughout the practice.

July 22; Clarkston, MI – Mayhem Fest 2012 made it’s stop in Detroit on Sunday, featuring the return of Slipknot amongst the slew of bands out to entertain fans in the most metal of ways. Along with the Iowa-based group, bands such as Slayer, Motorhead, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada and many more joined the tour to make this year’s festival as successful as possible.
The following is a slide show of photos, featuring the following bands, in order:
As I Lay Dying
All photos taken by Damien Dennis, except the Motorhead photos, which were taken by David McDonald.
On July 22, Mayhem Fest made it’s stop in Clarkston, MI at the DTE Music Energy Theatre. David McDonald, host of WXOU’s ‘The Molotov Rocktail,’ and Dylan Dulberg joined forces to take on some interviewing duties. One of said interviews was with Mike Hranica, vocalist and frontman for the metal band The Devil Wears Prada. The guys discuss how Hranica got into music and what influences him and the band as whole, along with tangents on flamingos and tattoos.
I shot and edited this video.
Last weekend, I went to see a media screening of the new movie HIT & RUN, which hits theaters on August 24th. The movie was written and directed by Dax Shepard, who also plays the lead role as Charlie Bronson/Yul Perkins. I had a scheduled interview with the actor about the new movie, and I thought occurred to me:
Why not film part of the interview?
Because it was a spur of the moment thing, we had a poor sound set up (which Dax and I shared a hearty laugh about) and had to make it fairly quick. We didn’t do much to make it appear as a professionally executed attempt, but it was a lot of fun, and Dax enjoyed it. So, with that being said, here is the video. Enjoy!
